Eva Kihonge is a seasoned Sustainability Specialist Consultant and a Lecturer with over a decade of experience in integrating technological innovations and Earth observation data for sustainable development in Africa. Her extensive work includes developing end-to-end workflows for climate data analysis, forecasting climate trends, and assessing the vulnerability of societies to extreme weather events using satellite observations. Eva has applied social vulnerability indices to create databases identifying at-risk communities, thereby enhancing resilience planning.
Eva’s expertise extends to conducting comprehensive environmental impact assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance for various projects, and leveraging GIS and remote sensing techniques for energy resources planning and management. Her analytical skills
have been instrumental in evaluating Environmental Social Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities across sectors such as forestry, energy, water, agriculture, and mining.
In her consultancy roles, Eva has collaborated with investors to assess possibilities in securing funding for renewable energy projects, including wind and solar energy, across Africa. Her ability to integrate GIS/remote sensed data into agricultural investment models has supported sustainable agricultural practices in countries like Malawi, Madagascar, and Guinea.
Eva’s academic contributions as an adjunct lecturer at various universities have enriched students' understanding of water resource management, environmental modeling, and the application of GIS/remote sensing in energy resource management. Her dedication to continuous learning and professional development underscores her commitment to advancing renewable energy, decarbonization, and smart grids for a sustainable future in Africa
