Biography

Qi Hu, a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earned his PhD degree in Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University in 1992. Since then, his work has advanced our understanding of the Madden-Julian Oscillation, interannual variation of the North American monsoon, the interactions of remote and regional dynamic processes in the warm season precipitation variation of the Central U.S. from interannual to multidecadal scales, surface and groundwater hydrology, climate impacts on crop productions, and the theories in production decision-making emphasizing the value of climate information. Among social and professional services, he served at editor’s role for 10 years and has served as the Editor-in-Chief since 2023 for the AMS Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology.
